Bridge 8 Summer Camps 2024
This year’s Bridge 8 Summer Camps are going to run for 3 weeks from Monday 15th July until Friday 2nd August.
Bookings are for a minimum of 2 days, either a Monday and Tuesday or a Thursday and Friday, but you can book in for multiple two day slots. However, you cannot do one day from Monday/Tuesday and one day from Thursday/Friday. There are also no camps on Wednesdays. Over the two days your child will take part in 4 different activities which are kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing and bushcrafts, which could be anything from raft building to orienteering to mountain biking. We will try to ensure your child has a chance to try each of these activities but they are all weather dependent and may be substituted for another activity if conditions dictate.
The cost of the two day camps are £70 (excludes lunch).

Easter Camps 2024
The Easter camps will run each day from 10am until 1pm on Monday 8th April till Thursday 11th April.
October Camps 2023
The October camps will take place on Monday 16th to Friday 20th October. There will be sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each running from 10am - 12.30pm. The children will be doing canoeing and bushcraft. The camps are open to children from 7 to 16 years old. The cost for the camps is £20.

Bookings are for a minimum of 2 days, either a Monday and Tuesday or a Thursday and Friday, but you can book in for multiple two day slots. However, you cannot do one day from Monday/Tuesday and one day from Thursday/Friday. There are also no camps on Wednesdays. The cost of the two day camps are £70 (includes lunch). A non refundable deposit of £25 is required at time of booking, to secure your child's place.

These summer camps play such an important part in ensuring we continue to address our aims and objectives as a Social Enterprise.; offer employment opportunities to instructors, ensure sustainable access to this provision for families, using our profit to reinvest back into family day vouchers, community activities and big international projects. Funds also support our bike hire partnership with Bikes for Refugees (Scotland).
Easter Camps 2024
The Easter Camps will run each day from Monday 8th April to Thursday 11th April. The camps will start at 10am and finish at 1pm. The activities on offer will be canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking and paddle boarding. The cost will be £25 per head.
We cannot specify which activity will be held on which day as certain factors will determine what can be done each day eg. the weather. There are toilet facilities on site.
You do not need to be able to swim to attend the camp. Every child will be given a buoyancy aid and if the weather requires it a windproof top to wear.
The camps will not be cancelled unless the weather deems it too dangerous to participate in the activities. In this case you will be notified as early as possible on the day.
The camps are solely for children. Adults should not remain on site whilst the children are attending the camp.
The camps will take place at Bridge 8 Hub, Calder Crescent EH11 4NE.
October Camps 2022
The October camps will take place on Monday 17th to Friday 21st October. There will be two sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, each running from 10am - 12noon and from 1pm - 3pm. Monday will be kayaking lessons where children can learn how to put on a buoyancy aid, get into and out of a kayak and basic paddle strokes. Tuesday will be canoeing lessons and Wednesday paddle boarding lessons both following the same format for the kayaking lessons. On Thursday and Friday we will be running trips from Ratho to Bridge 8 Hub. A packed lunch must be provided for these trips (no nuts please) and they will run from 10am - 2pm. The start point for Thursday and Friday will be Ratho. The camps are open to children from 7 to 16 years old apart from the Ratho trips where the minimum age is 8 years old. The cost for the lessons is £20, and for the Ratho trip £25.
February Break Activity Sessions 2022
Running Tuesday 15th, Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th February from 9.30am to 12 noon.

Bridge 8 Hub’s February, Easter, summer and October camps offer a variety of different outdoor activities situated in and around Edinburgh’s Union Canal. Activities include kayaking, canoeing, raft building, stand up paddle boarding, mountain biking and bushcraft.
